#mcodiary Day23 A Star is Born

To wash off all of that love story between a 9 year old boy and his equally 9 year old -ish girlfriend, I picked a movie that is more to my liking, (and age.)

I know I'm 2 years late but this movie is so gonna be my all time favourite from now on.

I mean, I know it seems like a good movie when it came out in 2018, and I'm afraid that's its gonna be disappointing cos of all the hype. But when I finally watch it, I'm not disappointed. It's actually good.
Everything people were saying about the movie is true.

And omg why don't Gaga just be normal??
But I get it though, that's the special part. If Gaga was normal, she wouldn't be the Gaga she is now and the movie won't be as special. The special part is when we got to see Gaga in the most human form playing this normal character.
Her calming voice saying "it's okay, it's okay" everytime to console Jackson is haunting my brain in a good way now. It's soothing to hear.

And I'm gonna jump on the bandwagon and comment on the Gaga and Bradley chemistry. Just look at this photo.

This is so gonna be my background photo somewhere.
I mean you can literally feel the love.

I'm just gonna go on and speculate why they didn't end up together like everyone else predicted.

This is what I get from all the interviews  and comments I read on YouTube.

1. Bradley is a business/career minded person. He saw Gaga as an opportunity to make his movie successful. And that's about it.
2. Some commenters says he's not a one woman type of guy. Not surprising.
3. They probably do have feelings for each other, but Bradley might have feelings for Ally. Not Gaga.
4. Bradley is a generally charming man. Many of his previous co-stars said the same.
And I remember watching one of Jennifer Lawrence interviews, where the host asked which of the kiss with her previous co-stars that she remembers the most. She definitely dont take Liam Hemsworth and Chris Pratt seriously but she admits Bradley Cooper give her the jitters.

So yeah that's why I think they didn't work out.

You can basically  compare the chemistry between JLaw and Bradley in Silver Lining Playbook with Bradly and Gaga in A Star is Born. Its incomparable. I mean, Gaga and Bradley is on another level.

So yeah, an actor who can sing and a singer who can act. What's not to love?
Bradley Cooper hit a jackpot on this one.

#mcodiary Day22 Romantic drama: Porn for girls?

So few days ago I've ran out of things to do and decided to revisit my Mandarin notebook. I got bored with the same vocab and grammar notes so I decided to look for a Mandarin movie on Netflix to watch. The first one that appears is this TV series called Put Your Head on my Shoulder. I read the synopsis and the storyline is simple enough for me just to listen to basic everyday conversation and sentences.

I don't normally watch these Asian love story dramas. I caught on early that all these dramas won't ever happened in reality and they just make you fantasize and daydreaming of this perfect love life that doesn't  even make any sense in real life.

So basically this series just reminded me of that. It has similar ingredients to all the romcom chickflick Asian dramas.

So why do I call it a Girl Porn?

We've established that men like sex, and women like all these emotion stuffs like attention, affection, protection, emotional connection what have yous.

So what are the ingredient in this particular drama that makes it porn for girls?

1.Tall lanky man child that honest to God looked like a 9 year old boy that has been stretched up vertically.

Look at that.

9 YEAR OLD BOY.

Fight me.

2. A spunky, innocent, petite, doe-eyed girl who's clumsy and long for a knight in shining armor to protect her 24hrs a day.
(Feminist must have a thing or two to say about this for sure)

3. The ridiculous height difference.
Well girls like tall guys in general cos well they like the feeling of someone towering over them. Something to do with wanted to be protected, even if the guy is not that tall, as long as he's bigger than her, its the same concept. Girls just like being small and tiny and protected.
And then, if he's tall, he could easily pick the girl up.
This goes back to the affection part. Girl like to be babied, many scene in the series where the boy pick the girl up to her room while she fell asleep on her sofas. Jeez, sorry to burst your bubble but trust me, nobody gonna do that on daily basis girls.
And then when she was forced to get drunk on an office dinner, the boy came to her rescue and pick her up all the way home.
And the most fantasy inducing scene, when the girl is saying the boy is like her little brother so the boy is annoyed and went on and pick her up, bring her to the bedroom and throw her on the bed implying that he 'could' do stuff to her that her little brother can't. huh, huh, girl porn right there. rawr.

4. Forced to live in the same house/moms matchmaking agenda.
Well nothing is more romantic than being forced to stay in the same house with a good looking guy huh.
If this were a Malay drama, it'll go somewhere along the line of arranged marriaged/forced marriage, like,
'Papa nak kamu kahwin dengan anak Tan Sri xxx supaya kita boleh gabung kan shahrikat kita bleh bleh bleh'.
Like, what are the chances that those things happened in real life?
Zero.
I remember a movie with Lisa Surihani and Farid Kamil using this concept.  I believe there are gazzilion more out there, playing on prime time TV. hurm.

But that's the similarity between Asian countries, couple staying together is still a taboo thing, but if you don't stay together then where would all the romantic scene is going to happened? Not in a library for sure. So to make it okay, they make the two couple forcefully married and stayed in the same house.
At first they will hate each others guts and then when they constantly 'forced' to be in close proximity to each other, romantic stuffs happened and now they likey likey each other, and then happily ever after.
So in this series, they are forced to stay in the same house by their moms for some reason.
So same concept. Same recipe.
The westerners will never get this.

Ohh, maybe not, remember The Proposal? where Sandra Bullock is about to be deported so he blackmailed Ryan Reynolds to marry her, so when they go to Ryan Reynolds family house they pretend to be a loving couple and forced to stay in the same room? yeaaaaa same concept detected. Girl porn is global, not an Asian thing apparently.
Girls dig this stuffs kid you not.
I should know I'm a girl.

5. Attention to detail.
In every one of these movies, the guy will pay attention to every excruciatingly little detail about the girls, what she like to eat, her favorite food, her favorite song, any mole or warts on her body, how her nose twitches, everything.
While men in real life struggle to remember anniversary dates.
Heh.

6. Accept her or what she is.
The girl in these story is almost always clumsy, careless, hopeless, messy sometimes, snore while they sleep so it would be relatable to most girls out there. In this series, the girls likes to eat River Snail Rice Noodles which is smelly but he still make the dish for her everytime. You'll watch the series and you'll be like hey, I'm like that girl, I hope I'll find my Gu Wei Yi. *daydreams*

7. Girl-centric making out scene.
If you watch the make out scene, guy will feel bored but girls will totally dig it. Super soft kiss on the lips, no tongue, (mostly a kiss on the cheek). Sleeping on the sofa together or in bed without having sex.(Girls love to cuddle right?) Even the sex scene is innocent. Not sloppy, rushed, full of lust sex scene we normally seen in western movies.

8. And the main ingredient is: THE BUILD UP.
So what's The Build Up? The main selling point in all the love story is not the relationship between a couple, but the build up of the relationship itself. Means, the attraction part, the process where they get to know each other, fall in love, the guy trying to get the girl or vise versa and the other party plays hard to get. The moments before they say I love you, or get married.

For example the series have friggin 24 episodes. The first kiss happened on episode 10, but that was when the boy is drunk, they kinda try to prolong the 'real' kiss. And then the boy finally admits that he had feelings or the girl in episode 15. Their real first kiss is in episode 17.
The new relationship goes on until they finally had sex on episode 22 and they got married on episode 24.
Why having sex and got married at the very end of the series? (this might differ from Western movies)
Because there's no mystery anymore after sex and marriage. (how ironic)
The whole 22 episodes are about the build up, the touchings, the intimacy, the many many scene where they almost kissed, or the first kiss itself. Once they had sex then there's no more first anything. The build up is what makes audience jitters. They don't make stories of a happily married couple because there's no more build up there. They building already done, so to speak. So no more jitters

We rarely seen this in western movies but if you remember in How I Met Your Mother, there's an episode where Victoria tell Ted that the build up leading to the kiss is as good as the kiss itself. Same concept.

All these criteria are what I meant by a 'girl porn'. It has everything that makes a girl swoon and intoxicated.
Totally doesn't happened in real life, but we wish they does. So why shove some unrealistic ideas in your head when you know its fiction. And as it does to porn, these movies are addictive. Its does no good other than messing up your real life expectation.

So yeah, I get why girls like these stories and Kdrama/Jdrama and or subsequently why they love male Kpop bands in general.
Girls like soft sensitive guys, if they cant decide if they are actually sensitive, just go for the looks, I don't know maybe in their mind guys who looks feminine are probably sensitive as well. I guess.
Just my wild speculation.

I'm not saying these stories are wrong, yes its only serves as an entertainment, but nothing in excessive is good right? In Malaysia particularly, I wish there's not much of these type of story being aired during prime time. Because I know there's too many of them. Like the producers dont have any other story line to sell. Kinda reflects on the mentality of the film makers and the audience in general.
But yeah its just my two cents.
At the end of the day its up to us to decide whats best right?

Pink skinny pants, forgot where I bought it.
Yellow clutch from Kitschen

My Friend Joe (1996)

Around time saya sekolah rendah dulu, (tak ingat tahun bila dia siar kat Malaysia) saya ada tengok satu cerita di TV - My Friend Joe. Cerita ni mengisahkan friendship dua orang budak 12 tahun Joe dan Chris.  Ada siapa-siapa ingat?

Kalau tak ingat saya cerita sikit,

Chris ni anak tunggal, takde kawan and selalu kena buli. Then bila Joe pindah around the neighborhood, diorang pun become bestfriend. Main basikal sama-sama semua. Joe ni adventurous sikit and selalu cover Chris kalau dia kena buli. For the first time si Chris sangat happy ada kawan. Satu hari entah macam mana, Chris dapat tahu yang Joe ni sebenarnya budak perempuan. Chris somehow rasa macam tertipu, frust, confuse semua  ada. So Chris dah taknak kawan dengan Joe lepas tu. Yang kesian nya Joe ni, dia ada rahsia kenapa dia kena pretend to be a boy. Dia ingat bila Chris dah jadi bestfriend dia, dia boleh cerita everything. Rupanya Chris tak boleh terima.
Okey saya nangis sekarang. tisu pls..*tsk..*

Tak tahu lah apa saya akan rasa kalau saya tengok balik cerita tu bila dah besar sekarang. Mungkin bosan.=P
Tapi bagi budak sekolah rendah yang naive yang masih belum faham erti penderitaan, susah payah dan friendship, cerita tu memang sangat-sangat memberi kesan dalam diri saya. Wah..=P

Sejak masuk U beberapa kali saya request dekat website download intranet campus ni. Tapi tak pernah ada orang upload. Saya pun tak de idea dah mana nak cari.

Kesimpulannya, saya nak tengok cerita tu!! Mana nak cari??(^_^)

More info about this movie from IMDB.

Tangled Ever After 2012

omg! omg! omg! They're back!!

And Eugene and Rapunzel is getting married!!
Now THIS is the wedding I've been waiting for.(^_^)

Disney team made this short film as a continuation of the effervescent Rapunzel, her pet frogchameleon Pascal, Maximus the palace horse and Eugene's adventure in Tangled (2010). Read my review here.
Which I've watched like millions times already right up till now.:P

And the short film will be premiered in front of each Beauty and The Beast 3D screening that will be in cinemas January 2012. Not sure about Malaysian cinema though.

Yes. Beauty and The Beast in 3D my lovely friends.
Another must watch.

This time around this epic tale will be shown with enhanced visual. So you can expect prettier Belle (not that she's not already pretty), beastier Beast and livelier dishes and pots.=P

"The Beast will have the characteristics from many animals, including the mane of a lion, the horns and head of a buffalo, the eyebrows of a gorilla, the tusks of a wild boar, the upper body of a bear, and the legs and tail of a wolf. It's voice was enhanced by the growls of actual lions and panthers.

Yet in order for Belle to fall for the Beast, his human side had to be readily apparent. Because of this, animators made sure to keep the Beast's eyes deep blue and full of soul." - Supervising animator Glen Keane.

I can't wait.

Lookalikes: RVP and Ben Affleck?

I watched He's Just Not That Into You again earlier tonight.
I always thought Ben Affleck and Robin Van Persie have a slight resemblances that I can't quite point my finger at.
But when I put their pictures side by side, they're not that alike.
Is it the chin?
Or the nose?
Or maybe the similarities are just in certain angle, little movements or some facial expressions.
Tell me if you agree.

Luke Evans

I went to Alamanda to watch Immortals earlier today.
Goodness me where do I start! hahaha.. it have all the elements I love in a movie. You know..if you kinda person who love movies about ancient empires, magic bows, the one with blood and gores and stuffs.

Well if you love 300 you'll love this one.

So overall I can grab the big picture of the story, not the very detail of it. The actions, visuals and sound effects on the other hand was super. Like I said to my friend this is not the movie you buy a CD and watch at home alone. Nope. No can do.

Not only you have to have somebody beside you when you jumped off your seat in horror in one of the scene but you got to have somebody you can ask 'Which God was that again?' or 'Where now?', you'll be commentating throughout the movie. So If you watch it alone you'll look like a retard. No I'm kidding.=P

Well another thing is the cast. There's a lot of familiar faces in there. The faces that is not that popular before, but you've seen them somewhere.

There's  the girl from Slumdog Millionaire, the villain who cuts Tony Stark's car in half using his electric whip in Iron Man 2, the hot girl who seduces Sam Witwicky before she turned to an alien robot in Transformers 2,  and I swear I saw one of the Cullens somewhere in the movie. He somehow managed to upgrade his immortal nonsense of a vegetarian vampire to one of the Greek Gods. Good for you!:P

And of course the one I've been swooned over from the beginning of the movie and wondering 'Where do I know this guy from?' , is Luke Evans.

And silly me, I watched The 3 Musketeers before I watch this movie. I do have a memory of an elephant. Yes offense elephants. T_T

Before being one of the 3 Musketeers, Luke also has played one of the Greek Gods in Clash of The Titans. Aah.. Clash of The Titans, another great movie.

Back to Immortals, I forgot to mention the main character who played Theseus, the character suits him alright but when I look at his impossibly symmetrical abs I can't think of anything rather than wondering what bra size will he be wearing if he fail to maintain all the muscles he got going on there.

I'm sorry but I'm one of those girls who always having a hard time finding overly huge and bulky muscles attractive. Hence, going back to Luke Evans as Zeus.=D

Zeus and Athena

Hot!
I really have to update my most attractive guy list. (^_^)

Seriously guys and girls, go watch Immortals!

Oh and I'm still in the progress of changing my blog layout. So mind the mess okay. Nite2 peeps. *Off to bed*

Review:Harry Potter ATDH Part 2

One thing about watching your favorite saga's last ever movie, don't put a your expectation sky high.
I happened to encounter some of the review and most of it said it was disappointing. So there I was watching and hopping for the least. Lucky me, I left the cinema feeling satisfied. The last installment of the saga for me is     a success.

I might say my least favorite part is when Harry, Ron and Hermione trying to escape from the Gringotts Bank. The movie made it look so easy. I've read the novel and in the novel , even I was frantically thinking were they gonna be able to get out from the bank after been left out by that bloody goblin. heheh did I just said 'bloody' goblin? =P=P

But my most favorite part of the movie is the Snape story. I cried when reading the novel and I cried even more watching the movie. It's good to know that cold-blooded guy we know for years actually do have a heart thrusted somewhere inside him. A big heart that is. Alan Rickman is one hell of an actor.

Very true indeed

One person that had been rarely appreciated in reviews is Ralph Fiennes who played Lord Voldermort.
Though he's familiar with antagonist role in Harry Potter and Hades in Clash of the Titans, he's also known for playing a romantic lover alongside Jenifer Lopez in Maid in Manhattan.

And he looks good with a nose.=)

And what makes Part 2 better than Part 1 is that they manage to put a lot of things inside the almost 2 hour movie.

If you love this movie right from the beginning, you will find the last movie is truly satisfying. But if you are not then you'll find any reason to hate it.

Just imagine what an experience these kid has been through.

So it's the end of a saga. Kinda sad really, but it's good to know how creative a human mind can be. J.K Rowling had given us a great ride to her imagination.
Definitely one of the best saga ever created. (^_^)

Review Lambat: KL Gangster

Okay I finally watched the movie last night.
And what did I think of it?

Not bad Shamsul Yusof... not bad at all.....

First of all, it has solid story line, not some crappy ending that left us all confused at the end of the day, the message was clear, and the fighting scenes was believable. You can felt that they really are fighting, not just practicing some fancy taichi or something.  Especially the character Jai played by Adi Putra. (His fighting scenes)

I don't know what's all the hype about Aaron Aziz's body, I think AdiPutra's hotter. Sorry Aaron's fan. Different preferences I guess.=P=P

Yes sometimes you felt like watching a Hong Kong movie played by some tanned Asian, and most importantly, no phony and nauseating romantic stuff. There's no sexy heroins as an attraction. The movie only had like 3 women who played the 3 littlest characters, the mom, the sister, and the sister's friend. Not that I think the characters not important, they're good enough to tell the story and relevant enough to complement the story line.

I hate it when a gangster acting all macho and violent and suddenly he went home and turned into a hopeless romantic with the girlfriend. It's a gangster movie for crying out loud.
I'm glad that's not the case in this movie.

And YES, a little bump on the road, Shamsul Yusof again, who played Shark, is VERY annoying. He might get my applause for his directing role. But his acting? Err..

How ironic is that only he get most of the interesting lines.. I don't know whether you guys noticed, he delivered like 40% of the movie's dialogue, the cool ones. And I kinda get his Chinese slang, maybe his character supposed to be a Chinese guy,  like I said, dark skinned, wide eyed Chinese. You know.. maybe King married with Shark's mom, a Chinese woman, or something.=P

Seriously, at one point it sounded as if he's rapping a line from a song..=P

But I'm okay with that, it kinda worked for the bad ass gangster role he's playing.. I guess..=)

And who shoots his step-dad with 2 guns? Why? He couldn't die with just one gun?
But again, I kinda get it, it looks cool and crooked..=P

Other actors in the movie played their part well too i guess, I love Sofi Jikan who played Dragon's right hand man Ajib. He's vicious and funny, and his dialogue doesn't sounds like he's trying to hard. *cough*Shark*cough*

And Zizan, he might as well just be Abg Long Zizan in this movie, no need to change the name to Fadil. When he said "Bagi die la, bagi die la KL ni." I seriously thought 'KL' is some kind of a toy truck Malek stole from Shark when he was a kid. Priceless.=P
And because Zizan is so Zizan, I swear at one point I was expecting Johan will appear somewhere in the movie..=P

I think Aaron Aziz's voice is a bit soft for an ex-gangster, and I wish Bront Paralae's is in the movie too, but we can't have too much of a good thing don't we..=)

Just what I think would be better, if the story tells us, how Shark back-stabbed the main character Malek that made him sent to jail, and what've King done to Sharks mom that made him (secretly) hold grudge to his stepdad at the end of the movie.

But all and all, kudos to Shamsul Yusof.
For this particular movie, I can proudly say,

Support our local film industry. (^_^)

Blabla

Okey, I just watched LOTR: The Fellowship of The Ring. =__=

I can't help but notice some similarities of the movie with The Harry Potter Series.

Frodo Braggins & Harry Potter

Gandalf & Dumbledore

Gimli & Hagrid

Difference here is Gimli is a dwarf and Hagrid is a giant.

Gollum & Dobby

Okay Dobby's cuter.

And why do Legolas looks freakishly similar to Barney Stinson sometimes??

Okay, just ignore me. I'm dead bored.(^_^)

Tangled!

Okey review lambat pickup lagi. (-_-")

On the way balik hometown semalam, saya tengok cerita Tangled. Dah berapa bulan menetap dalam hard disk saya akhirnya tergerak jugak nak tengok.

And by the time saya tulis ni saya dah tengok balik sebanyak 3 kali.(^_^)

Saya tak berapa ingat sangat cerita asal Rapunzel macamana tapi Disney punya version ni memang good enough for me.

I love every little thing about the movie. The story line, the feisty innocent princess in Rapunzel, the handsome and suave thief in Flynn/Eugene. The cute and loyal chameleon, the visual, the dialogues and most of all, their facial expression.

The facial expression in this movie is priceless. Even the horse makes an impression to me even he doesn't speak a single line in this movie.

Love/hate relationship between Flynn and Maximus the palace horse.

The voice for the main characters are perfect. Flynn character is tailor made for Zachary Levi and Mandy Moore's wonderful voice suites perfectly with Rapunzel's sweet and innocent character.

Zachary Levi (Chuck) and Mandy Moore(A Walk to Remember)

I must say Flynn is the most good looking hero I've ever seen in Disney's fairy tale. Funny, charming, a little over the top, and the goatee works for him. I even had crush on him. And his combination with that little confused and naive princess are so much fun to watch.

  Oh, he's good looking alright..(^_^)

The pet chameleon,Pascal.

I giggled a lot, laughed occasionally, cried once (blushed) and smiled the whole time. I can't believe I didn't watch this movie earlier.
Breathtaking scenery.
(The part when I cried..:P I don't know, it's something about dreams and hopes and lanterns that makes me all emotional..I'm on a train for God sake):P:P

I love Disney Movies. No point denying it, Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty,Tarzan, Alladin, Pocahontas, numerous Barbie Movies. I love them all, I guess some part of me still believe that life could still be a fairy tale.

Happily Ever After.

Those who haven't watched, please watch, I believe even the boys will love this. You'll feel like you're 9 all over again.
(^_^)
